St Michaels Festival Fayre and Dragon Trail

Come and join us for an afternoon of community fun at St Michael’s!

Our Patronal Festival Fayre will bring together people of all ages from across East Wickham, Welling and beyond. Whether you already know St Michael’s or have never visited us before, you will be very welcome.

Enjoy stalls, food, homemade cakes, family games, music, crafts, a tombola, raffle and plenty more—including the Great St Michael Dragon Trail and the chance to Dunk the Deacon!

The Great St Michael Dragon Trail

Dragons are appearing around East Wickham!

From Sunday 20 September, families are invited to find the official St Michael’s dragons displayed at locations around our community. Each dragon has a symbol and a secret word to collect.

Find any six dragons to complete the community trail, then bring your trail sheet to the Festival Fayre on Sunday 27 September to receive a certificate. 

• The trail is free to take part in.
• Dragons can be seen safely from public pavements.
• You do not need to enter a building or buy anything.
• The dragons can be visited in any order.
• Children must be accompanied by an adult.
• Please take particular care near roads and crossings.

Children are also invited to come to the Fayre dressed as dragons or angels—but dressing up is entirely optional!

Who is St Michael?

Why dragons?

Our church is named after St Michael the Archangel.

The Bible gives us a vivid picture of Michael standing against a dragon. The dragon represents cruelty, fear and everything that harms God’s world. St Michael reminds us that evil does not have the final word - and that each of us can choose courage, kindness, justice, truth and hope.

These are some of the special words you will discover along the trail.

You do not need to attend St Michael’s - or any church - to come to the Festival Fayre. This is an afternoon for our whole community, and everyone is welcome.
